Career Services and Cooperative Education Center

There are many great reasons to gain internship or co-op experience during college such as: to explore a career field, to build a professional network, and to gain new skills. Once you have earned a minimum of one academic year of credits in the United States and are enrolled as a full-time student with an active visa, you are eligible to participate in the university’s Internship Program.

During Study:

On-campus employment

  • Limited to 20 hours per week when school is in session or full-time during holiday and vacation periods.

CPT (Curricular Practical Training)

  • CPT may include internships, student teaching, cooperative education programs and practical experiences. Academic credit is granted with CPT and placements are often paid positions

After Study: OPT (Optional Practical Training)

  • Optional Practical Training (OPT) is available to undergraduate and graduate students who have completed their degree. They are eligible for a total of 12-36 months of OPT to continue living in the United States and work full-time.
  • OPT for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) graduates permits the maximum duration of 36 months.
